Larry Grossman

Larry Grossman is a Los Angeles native whose professional art career began when he bought an airbrush at age fifteen and began painting and selling wild T-shirts at such events as "The Teen-Age Fair" at the Hollywood Palladium, and at numerous hot rod and custom car shows.
In the late 60’s Larry moved to Berkeley, where he graduated (majoring in film and photography) from CCAC Art School, where he later taught film animation. "Rude Vagabond", an animation short film he single-handedly created as a senior, won first place in several film festivals, and played for over five years on the then popular Midnight Movie circuit. During this period he also owned several successful businesses, creating silk screened t-shirts, leather clothes, and ceramic jewelry, all of which were sold internationally through sales reps. In 1981 the Disney Studios enticed Larry back to L.A. to work as a designer on their landmark first computerized film "TRON”. After that, Larry free-lanced for Disney, Warner Bros., and Dreamworks Studios, and also illustrated three album covers for legendary musician Frank Zappa, among others.
In the mid 90’s Larry retired his trusty airbrush after becoming enthralled with the creative potential of the computer while working on "TRON". He soon developed a unique process, which combines digital airbrushing with his own photography, and the resulting images are unique and striking. He subsequently started his current business, Retrovisions.
Larry’s work has been exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide, including the famed Petersen Automotive Museum, The Museum of Neon Art, The National Hot Rod Museum, and The Gene Autry Western Museum, to name a few. In addition to publishing over seventy-five posters featuring his own art, he has also created designs for such companies as IN-N-OUT Burger and Bob's Big Boy. His work has also been licensed for dozens of products, ranging from metal signs to jigsaw puzzles, wallpaper, and calendars.
